SDV6 Timing Belt Replacement (Gen 1 & Gen 2)

The 3.0D SDV6, also known by its engine code 306DT. Is one of the most widely used engines across Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) models. Both Generation 1 and Generation 2 SDV6 engines use a primary timing belt to synchronise the crankshaft and camshafts, along with a secondary rear timing belt to drive the high-pressure fuel pump.

  • Why Replace the Fuel Pump Timing Belt?

    On SDV6 engines, the fuel pump belt is timed, and correct installation requires the front timing tools to lock the camshafts. For this reason, there is no technical justification for replacing only the front timing belt. Both belts must be replaced together to ensure correct timing and long-term reliability. Failure of the rear belt can incur costly repairs.

  • What Parts Are Replaced?

    During this service we replace:

    -Front Timing belt, with tensioner and new idlers

    -Rear fuel pump belt with tensioner

    -Auxiliary drive belt
